Through Christ & community, 10:12 Sports uses athletics to provide mentoring and job training opportunities to youth. 10:12 empowers our community church partners and leaders to mentor youth through Christ, developing servant leaders and successful decision makers who commit to healthy lifestyles. We are currently in the process of building and strengthening a team that embraces that mindset & provides a transformational experience in urban ministry for our staff/interns.

Job Description

The Mentor Coordinator is responsible for ensuring 10:12 Sports discipleship strategies are implemented with excellence and consistency. Although there is a concentrated focus on equipping mentors, the Mentor Coordinator will help to shape the overall discipleship climate at 10:12. This role entails a heavy emphasis on discipleship and the ability to flourish in relationship building, embodying many aspects of Urban Missions. The Mentoring Coordinator will be joining a small but mighty team, and therefore is expected to step into a diverse set of responsibilities.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mentor Development (80%)

Mentor Development

  • Create and lead mentor coach recruitment process

  • Create strategy for equipping mentor coaches with tools needed to confidently coach and mentor teens

  • Plan a strategy for supporting and checking in with mentor coaches, assisting with the overall well-being of mentors

  • Assist M.I.T. coordinator in creating a seamless onramp to becoming a competent mentor coach

  • Identify opportunities for mentor coach family to increase camaraderie

  • Plan and lead retreats, trips, trainings, and meetings focused on empowering mentor coaches

  • Identify resources that can assist in staff spiritual development

Program Implementation

  • Plan and facilitate mentor/mentee engagement opportunities (dinner, trips etc..)

  • Develop ways to strengthen mentor/mentee relationship

  • Provide support to mentors on game day duties

  • Research or create, and implement spiritual & leadership development curriculums [to be] utilized within 10:12

  • Create strategy for mentorship to be implemented into various 10:12 programs

  • Identify and implement proper evaluation methods around growth due to mentoring/discipleship

Church Partnership (10%)

  • Develop recruitment strategy to partner with local churches to increase # of mentors and strengthen touchpoints between the local church and teens (their families)

  • Plan strategic engagement opportunities for 10:12 teens to fellowship and be with local partnering church members

Administration (10%)

Data Measurement - Assists in implementing a mentor-based metrics framework

  • Work with Program Manager to develop robust solution for capturing and analyzing mentoring data

Miscellaneous - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Personal Characteristics:

  • Person of integrity, actively walking out their Christian faith

  • Experience in Christian ministry leadership (3 or more years preferred)

  • Strong interest in youth development

  • Relationship-driven and passionate about seeing discipleship flourish

  • Able to network and build strong relationships with the 10:12 community (staff, players, stakeholders, etc)

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong leadership, planning and organization skills

  • Conflict management and resolution skills

  • Alignment with 10:12 Sports’ mission and core values

  • Desire to teach and shepherd are strongly preferred

  • High School Diploma Required
